Thinking of Ukraine

I woke up thinking of Ukraine today. I opened up our sliding glass door first thing this morning and enjoyed the fresh air. This reminded me of how I opened up the kitchen window every morning when we were in Ukraine last summer. The sun shining brightly throughout the kitchen as I made my morning coffee reminded me of-- you guessed it-- my mornings in Ukraine. Oh how I miss the place. It holds such a special place in my heart. The simplicity of this beautiful country is something I long for here, but can never quite achieve.

It will be so nice to get back there. I can't wait to share it with Caleb and Rachel and of course, John. I can't wait to meet A and P--- if only they knew we were coming. Still, I pray that God is preparing their hearts to say yes to our family--- they are at the age where their consent is needed.

Hopefully the SDA will look at our paperwork with favor and we will hear our travel date in the next week or two. The journey is really just beginning.

I woke with the same sentiment about Armenia, except I've never been there. Kevin is over there right now and he is about to meet our children, all three of them together, for the first time.

Hi Christine!

I certainly can echo your sentiments! I loved having the windows open in the morning (while making my "instant" coffee :) and listening to the lively chatter of children's voices and just the general awakening of the day as these hard-working people headed off for their days. I, too, long for the simplicity that we experienced there! Oh, and blessings on your upcoming adoption....can't wait to read the post of your first morning back...not only for the country but also for your new children! God Bless....."Bella's Mama"

Same way I feel about Russia, especially "the simplicity....I long for but can never quiet achieve." Sometimes I think, as an Irish friends does, that it is "the motorcar". Life may be "harder" but it is far more simple without one. One accepts ones limitations.

I'm so thrilled for you!

BTW, they prepare the children....the idea of being adopted is generally broached to them, as I understand it, as it is in everyone's benefit that things go smoothly.

Yesterday I was walking through our backyard when I exclaimed to Josh, "It smells like Ukraine right here!" He looked at me like I was nuts, but seriously, it smelled like dill and buttery potatoes! We think of Ukraine and miss it often, too.

I think of Ukraine a hundred times a day. Our daughter is still there. Glad to be a new follower, hope you will add us to your list, too.
