He Wanted Some Eggs

Well the kids are off to camp. They were supposed to leave at seven in the morning. Oh how I wish we could be there with them. Instead we are going to the open market to look for balloons for them, some fresh fruit, and maybe a few souvenirs.

I forgot to mention that John's crown came out yesterday. It happened while chewing gum and when he brought it to me I thought that he was kidding. Nope. So he laid across the hood of the car while I played Dentist Christine and placed it back in the right way. All the kids were around us and they couldn't stop commenting on how crazy the whole situation was. Thankfully it is back in and John is now chewing on the other side.

Another thing I want to share-- sure to give you a good laugh because it did me, was when John asked for eggs. He went into one of the stores and didn't know the name for eggs. When the store owners looked at him strangely because they had no clue what he was asking for-- he did this. He started clucking like a chicken, then pretends to pull something out of his bottom and then pretends to hold a round object in his hand which he then calls a "Meeach" which mean ball. Needles to say they understood my funny husband. Who says you need to know the language in order to communicate? I think John got his point across quite well-- don't you?

P.S. So many of you have left comments and private emails about wanting to help and possibly starting something to send care packages to the kids left in the orphanage. I think that is a great idea. I have the address. I also would love for families to be touched with these children's stories that may lead them to adoption-- so please feel free to share the post "Impacting Each Other Lives" with anyone who you think would read. Thanks! You are so right! God can move mountains!

Wondered if it were possible to rent a car as it would allow you to go to the camp to visit.

How good that you were able to get the crown back in.

When we were in Germany, I wanted a cow bell to make a door arrangement I'd seen. My ex spoke a little German but did not know the correct words so he was mooing and doing a pantomine. It was funny but it worked too.

Experience in Charades always helpful! That reminds me so much of Sergei when he first came to us. That boy could act out ANYTHING! And it was a lot of fun. I bet those ladies will remember and laugh about that request forever!

LOVE following your story/journey!!

Use a little bit of toothpaste on the inside of the crown and it will stick quite well -- at least for a few days at a time. (my dentist told me this over the phone when my crown did the same thing!!)

I do hope you get all those kids placed for adoption. They are lovely and my heart breaks for them. Every child deserves parents!

So Funny about the eggs! You won't believe it but I did the same thing b/c I didn't know the word for eggs either! My friend Melissa who was with me thought it was the funniest thing ever! I can't wait to tell her that other people communicate just like me. LOL! Praying you get your clearances really soon!

Hi Christine, if you can get a little vaseline and put it inside of Johns crown, it will help to keep it on. A little help when you can't run to the entist right away. Not as good as cement but helps a bit. mary hop

Oh! I can't stop giggling! My husband is too straight-laced for charades. :( We'll have to see though, because we leave for Ukraine on July 11!!! I sure hope the Interpol mess is straight by then.

Hi Christine, there should be some medical facility around the town with dentist in it to help John with his crown (not the eggs). Consider this option, it takes few minutes to put a crown back, who knows how many days it will take for you to get home.
I wish you the best of luck.

Hey Christine. It'd be great if you could get the director of the Internat on board for the care packages. A list of kids and ages - it doesn't have to be very specific i.e. just a first name, gender and age - would allow to match a family with a kid who would send a care package for Christmas. This way the packages could be a little more personalized for age and gender and they could include a car with the kids name wishing them a happy Christmas. I don't know if such a list would be hard to get and I imagine you are pretty busy so I await your reply when you get a bit of free time in your ukrainian adventure.

PS. Rachel is getting prettier and prettier every day.
