Sleep. Sleep. Oh Wonderful Sleep

We are finally awake--- and it is nearly noon! Noon! Can you believe it! I guess I fibbed in my last post saying I was already on Ukraine time. :) Oh, well, the sleep felt wonderful. In a few hours we are hoping to get our referral for the kids and hop on a train over to the same region we were in last year. Pretty exciting.

The day has been leisurely.... slowly packing to head out. Caleb is having a hard time adjusting to the food... thankfully there is a McDonalds close by and prepackaged candy bars. I also brought some oatmeal packets and cereal--- but Caleb tried the milk and nearly had a fit. Soooo... he ate his cereal dry. We played Racko, yelled "Good Afternoon" from our apartment window to passersby, and washed the dishes by hand.

It is good to be in Ukraine.

It's the second day that hits me when I travel to Moscow. Good that you all slept in today.

How is the milk so different from that in the USA? I am from England and didn't find a great difference when we moved to TX. Just wondering!

Daniel and I had issues with the food too... so I am right there with Caleb! McDonalds was my best friend... but only when I had to stay the week in Kiev alone with Daisy. The rest of the time... Rice and butter... : ) I hope he finds something better to eat... although, I would love some Chicken Kiev right about now...

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time in Kiev and have already met up with some fabulous families. I just love how adoption brings families together!

Anxiously awaiting more news on your new additions!

I love your updates!

It sounds (and looks) like you are having the best time ever!! How neat to be there with another family.

Keeping all of you in my prayers.

I bet it's that dreadful UHT milk (the stuff that comes in boxes and has been ultra-pasteurized to make it last forever). They use it a lot in Europe for some reason, even though it tastes TERRIBLE! Maybe non-UHT milk (that is, if they sell it) would be better for Caleb?

I can sympathize with Caleb on this one. I went to France as a vegan (now I'm just a plain-old vegetarian) and hated going out to eat because there was nothing I could eat in the restaurants. It's great that you had an apartment with a kitchen, though (hopefully you'll have one when you travel to the region where your kids are) because that way you can cook if it's difficult to find options in restaurants.

Hi Christine! I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous:) I know not everyone LOVES Ukraine but I really do miss it and would love to be going back, maybe(God willing)we will be returning to Ukraine next March;) I'm so glad that you post pictures, makes me feel like I'm along for the journey:) From the looks of the pictures, I'm pretty sure that you stayed in the same apartment we did in Kiev:) We are continue to pray for your family.

when i was kidnapped w/my sister we were taken into mexico (illegally) and while we were there, i remember EVERYTHING with milk tasted AWFUL!!! we weren't given much food, but when we were, often times it wasn't even edible. i mean to them it was, but it tasted so bad to us that we'd rather starve (which we did) than eat it.

mcdonald's is always a safe back-up. i remember when my parents took us to Europe in 2004, we spent half a week in Paris & almost EVERY meal was at mcdonald's because we couldn't find much we liked!

there WAS a Pizza Hut in Paris, thankfully, so when we got tired of mcdonald's we had pizza. but it was sooooooo weird because in Paris, Pizza Hut was a place you went to in your best clothes! it was hilarious to walk into Pizza Hut to find everyone wearing dresses & suits. :-P

praying for you!

I don't know about Ukraine, but I surely love Russia - and this time of year! Oh, you are so lucky!

I'm surprised Caleb is not more adjusted to the food since you cook EU occasionally.

I think I'm an official blog stalker! I have checked your blog so many times today, just waiting for the news that you have your referral. I cannot wait to see and hear all about the new Reed kids!

The milk my daughter buys in Moscow was fine in cereal so what you had must have been very different.

Did you make him drink Kefir instead of milk? We had no problem getting our milk (in a bag) with the similar percentage we like (skim milk, or 1%). Can't wait to hear how your appointment went and travel! HUGS and God bless!
